Hello Kitty image registrar Japan Sanrio says that Hello Kitty is not a cat. She is a cartoon character, a little girl and friends of everyone. She walks with two feet and never walks with four feet. She does not have the behavioral characteristics of a cat. The third Hello Kitty designer, Yuko Yamaguchi (山口裕子), designed Hello Kitty as a cat. She pointed out that she didn't intentionally add a mouth to Hello Kitty to keep her happy forever. There wouldn't be too much emotional change. Everyone can be comforted by seeing it."
About Designer of Hello Kitty Bio :
Yamaguchi Yuko was born in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture, Japan. She studied industrial design courses at the Art Department of the Women's Art University. In 1978, Yamaguchi joined Sanrio Corporation. In 1980, she became the character designer of the third generation Hello Kitty. ] She has been the chief designer of most of Hello Kitty's character history.
In addition to Hello Kitty, Yamaguchi has been designing for "Gem Pets" since 2008. She also made illustrations of Asahi Television's official mascot Go-Chan.
